Motorola sells new cellular

JAKARTA (JP): United States telecommunications equipment giant Motorola launched here on Tuesday the latest series in its line of mobile phone products.

The company said that the new cellular phone, weighing about 83 grams, was the smallest Global System for Mobile Communications mobile phone.

Motorola's regional operations manager for Indonesia, Thailand and Indochina, Robert Van Tillburg, said that aside from using the phone to make calls, the new V-series 3688 could also function as a personal organizer and provide access to mobile banking, mobile e-commerce and information on demand.

He added that the new phone would be available this month through all of Motorola's authorized dealers in Indonesia and would be priced at about Rp 9 million (about US$1,000) per unit.

Motorola's corporate country manager for Indonesia, Andy Cobham, said that Motorola planned to launch another new product in another three to six months. (gis)
