Motorists told to skip Senayan
JAKARTA: Motorists are advised to avoid the Senayan Sports
Complex area from Friday (today) until Wednesday next week
because of likely crippling traffic jams during the quarterfinals
of the 2005 Indonesia Soccer League (LI 2005).
"Thousands of supporters from four teams will flood the Bung
Karno Stadium and therefore worsen traffic congestion,"
the official website of Jakarta administration BeritaJakarta.com
said.
The four teams taking part in the quarterfinal rounds are
Persija Jakarta, PSIS Semarang, PSM Makassar and Persebaya
Surabaya.
"All four teams have supporters who are notorious for their
hooliganism. They often turn violent, especially when their
beloved teams lose," it said.
Jl. Asia Afrika, Jl. Gerbang Pemuda and Jl. Jend. Sudirman
were among the roads where traffic would be severely affected, it
said. --JP
