JAKARTA (JP): PT Federal Motor, a manufacturer and assembler
for Honda, donated the Jakarta Military Command 35 new
motorcycles Thursday.

The command's chief, Maj. Gen. Sutiyoso, said the motorcycles
would be used by his squads to patrol the city.

The military is strengthening its patrols even though security
in Jakarta has returned to normal, Sutiyoso said, referring to
the July 27 riots in Central Jakarta.

The squads are spearheading the military's campaign to ensure
the safety of residents. They patrol city areas that are most
prone to crime, and vital buildings and installations.

Sutiyoso said the public should make the most of the squads.

The squads, deployed in every mayoralty, can be paged on 390-
2222. For Central Jakarta the pager number is 19201, North
Jakarta 19202, West Jakarta 19203, South Jakarta 19204, East
Jakarta 19205, Tangerang 19206 and Bekasi 19207. (26)
