Motorcycle gang robs phone man

JAKARTA: After months of no armed robberies in the capital, a cellular phone distributor was robbed on Tuesday night on his way home to Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

Hendarmin, 45, and his brother, Cat Liong, 19, were robbed on Jl. Raya Nusa Indah, in front of the Perumnas Klender market after six men on motorcycles approached them, police said on Wednesday.

One tried to grab Hendarmin's bag and as he and Cat struggled to hold onto it, another took out a pistol and fired four times into the air.

The men took the bag carrying 70 cellular phones and more than Rp 3.6 million in credit vouchers.

Duren Sawit Police are investigating the case. -- JP
