Mother Teresa Messenger of God

Lord Krishna said in the Bhagavad Gita, "I shall be born among men every now and then to destroy evil and protect the good people." Nowadays we rarely see messengers of God among us.

There lived among us until Friday the true messenger of God who spread, not through words but deeds, the message that "Service to the poor is service to God". Born a Christian and living as a nun, she rendered all her service living in India, a Hindu-dominated country, and proved that service has no barriers in country or religion. She is Mother Teresa and true to her title, she was mother to the entire world.

No words can describe this God-sent saint who sacrificed her entire life to the welfare of the destitute and wiped the tears of millions of poor children, the old and the sick. Mother Teresa's life was not just an episode in this often selfish world but a great book to be studied by all of humanity. She was revered not just for the service she provided to the poor but for living her entire life among the poor and sick. Her simple lifestyle, her humility, her selflessness and her dedication to all her noble causes made her incomparable.

Mother Teresa was the connecting link between God and man. She was born to reinject forsaken values into this world which seems to be slowly getting further away from true human values. She was the greatest motivator of people to do whatever good they could do, wherever they could, whenever they could and in every which way they could. Let us all pick up a leaf from the great book, the life of Mother Teresa and make this world a better place to live.

Mother Teresa will always live in all our hearts, for death makes us forget only ordinary mortals. She was one of the greatest altruists of this century. We really do not know when we will see another messenger of God like her again. Maybe she will reincarnate into another human form to continue serving humanity.

I would like to request The Jakarta Post to devote ample coverage to the life and service of Mother Teresa.
