Mother sues hospital for malpractice

TANGERANG: A 29-year-old mother, Ita Saspita, has sued two
doctors at the Usada Insani Hospital on Jl. Hasyim Ashari in
Tangerang for malpractice in connection with the appendix surgery
they performed on her five-year-old daughter, Konita Kansa.

Ita said on Tuesday that on March 22, Dr. Rizal and Dr. Dadi
performed the surgery on her daughter at the hospital. They
discharged Konita on March 29.

The next day, Konita suffered a high fever and vomiting.

"I rushed her to the nearest clinic and my daughter was later
transferred to the Harapan Kita Hospital in West Jakarta on March
31," she said.

An examination performed at Harapan Kita showed that Konita's
stomach and chest were suppurated, allegedly the result of the
appendix surgery.

None of the directors of Usada Insani Hospital could be
reached for comment.

Konita is currently in the emergency ward of Harapan Kita
Hospital undergoing intensive treatment. -- JP
