Most teens have sex at home

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: About 70 percent of teenagers enjoy sexual activities at home, while the remaining 30 percent go to other "safe" places such as the beach, parks or fields instead of staying in hotels, a sexologist said.

Taufik Adisusilo told a premarital sex seminar held recently in Banyumas that teenagers chose their residence as the location to indulge in sex for security reasons.

"They don't like to go to hotels because receptionists often asked for their identity cards. Besides, it's too expensive," he said, adding that a recent survey conducted in Semarang showed that almost 90 percent of teen couples have had sex on their dates.

"This is of great concern because many of them lack sexual knowledge. That is why schools and parents must be active in explaining to them the risks of premarital intercourse." (45/edt)
