Moslem women conference

From Republika

The recent World Conference of Moslem Women was held in Khartoum, Sudan from July 31 to Aug. 3 and was attended by 150 participants from 85 countries. It is strange that there were no participants from Indonesia which has the largest Moslem population in the world.

There has been no explanation as to the reasons for the non- participation. Mrs. Zahara Deliar Noer says some people ascribe it to the difficulty of reaching Sudan due to a necessary transit in Egypt. Dr. Marwah Daud Ibrahim regrets the absence of Indonesian delegates to the conference.

I herewith request those having received the invitations to explain the matter. I would also ask the organizers to whom were the invitations were addressed?

I hope there will be no repeat of the failure to attend such important conferences for Indonesian Moslem women.
