More Tommy's file to go to prosecutors
JAKARTA: Police revealed on Friday that they plan to submit more of the case file on the ex-fugitive Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra to the Jakarta Provincial Prosecutors' Office next week.
Jakarta Police detectives chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said the file dealt with Tommy's flight from justice and the people who aided and abetted Tommy, the youngest son of former president Soeharto, during his escape.
"We hope to submit the file next week. We are now in the process of adding the finishing touches," said Bambang.
Police have so far mentioned the names of artist Sandy Harun, Cana alias Hasan, and her son Bill Haque as suspects. If convicted, they could face a maximum of nine months in jail under Article 221 of the Criminal Code.
Tommy himself has been incarcerated in Cipinang penitentiary in East Jakarta since Feb. 20 after being arrested on Nov. 28, 2001. However, he still enjoys special privileges, including having a TV set, private bathroom and a bed with a foam mattress. -- JP
