More than 2,000 'may fail' exam

YOGYAKARTA: Some 2,300 students taking part in Yogyakarta's national final examinations, would probably fail, an official said on Friday.

Provincial education office head Sugito said the students, who failed because of illness or because they were having problems with the English subject, would be given another chance in the second phase of the examination in October.

"Generally, the examination ran well and the precise number of those who have failed the tests can't be announced yet, since we're still involved in the corrections process," Sugito said.

According to the office data, 41,545 senior high school students in the province took part in the exams. -- JP
