More seats on Java trains

BANDUNG: The state railway company Perumka is adding a total of 71,218 seats on its services in Java during the period between Dec. 18 and Jan. 4 to cope with the holiday rush.

A Perumka spokeswoman said the company will not be increasing its fares despite soaring demands. The additional seats will come from extra cars being installed for most services, she added,

For the duration of the holiday season, Perumka has also suspended ticket sales through travel agencies and all tickets must now be purchased from the railway stations. (pet/emb)
