More nurses overseas

JAKARTA: Labor export company PT Binawan Inti Utama sent on Saturday 20 more professional nurses to the Netherlands, who expect to receive salaries of between US$1,200 and $1,500 a month.

The nurses, who graduated from the Binawan Institute of Health Sciences (BHIS), would be employed in five hospitals in the country for three years.

Binawan president Saleh Alwaini said his company has resumed the labor supply to the Netherlands after the two countries agreed to appoint the company to supply the professional nurses.

During the past two years, the health ministry had taken over the business but had been suspended by the Dutch government because the nurses sent did not meet its requirements, he said.

"We resume the sending of health care professionals this year after the two countries settled the dispute," he said, adding that so far Binawan has supplied 640 nurses to the Netherlands. --JP
