More hotels in Ambon

AMBON, Maluku (JP): An Ambon-based joint venture company has a plan to build a three-star hotel under a foreign investment scheme here with a total investment of Rp 120 billion (US$50.8 million), a business executive said here on Saturday.

Mien Hadjid Mochtar, a consultant for the construction of the hotel, was quoted by Antara as saying that the 120-room hotel would be built on a plot of 2.6 hectares of land.

The hotel will have various facilities, including tennis courts, swimming pools and children playgrounds, he said.

When start operation in the next two years, the hotel is expected to employ no less than 350 people.

Mochtar is optimistic that the presence of the new hotel would boost tourism development in Ambon in particular and in Maluku in general.

So far, there is only one star-rated hotel in the capital city of the province of Maluku.
