More health workers recruited for Aceh

BANDA ACEH: The Ministry of Health plans to recruit 880 health workers for postings in 55 resettlement areas of displaced persons camps across Aceh.

Human resources development officials at the provincial health agency, Burhanuddin, said on Monday the new recruits, comprising general practitioners, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and environmental health experts, would serve for three months, with a possible extension, if necessary.

Each post will be handled by a team of 16 medical workers.

Burhanuddin said many of the people registering for the humanitarian mission had demonstrated a reluctance to work in remote areas in Aceh Jaya regency.

The disaster has left over 200,000 dead or missing and more than 400,000 people displaced. -- Antara
