More evidence now against Hassan Tiro

JAKARTA: The police say they will provide more evidence to Swedish prosecutors against the leader and founder of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), Hasan Tiro, by sending a laptop containing electronic mails between Hassan and Acehnese rebels.

The National Police's First director of Defense and Transnational Crime, Brig. Gen. Aryanto Sutadi said on Monday that the laptop, currently being kept at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would be sent on Tuesday.

According to Aryanto, the laptop was handed over by Tengku Amri bin Abdul Wahab, a former field commander of the separatist movement, following his surrender on May 12 last year.

Indonesia has claimed the secessionist movement was involved in the Sept. 13, 2000, bomb explosion at the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Sept. 23, 2001, attack on the Atrium Plaza in Central Jakarta, which claimed at least six lives. --JP
