More councillors to be questioned

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani confirmed on Tuesday that the police will summons 15 more Depok councillors for the allegation of Rp 9 billion (US$969,932) graft.

"It (the summons) will be this week," he said. "They will be summoned as witnesses. If the investigation results confirm with the evidence, they will be named as suspects."

The 15 councillors were members of the Depok Council budget committee. The committee was responsible for planning the city budget.

Earlier on Monday, the police detained seven councillors of the same graft allegation. Police said the seven suspects were the masterminds behind the collective graft allegedly conducted by all 45 councillors. -- JP
