More cola, please

JAKARTA (JP): Participants at the Special Session of the People's Consultative Assembly can choose from a variety of free drinks that have been made available to the illustrious legislators.

Those who prefer Coca-Cola can gulp as many glasses of the sugary-sweet soft drink as they want, according to Parimin, a workers assigned to serve the drink to legislators.

"We have provided 600 liters of cola, enough to quench the thirst of 2,000 people a day. We also have a few gallons in reserve, just for soft drink addicts," Parimin said.

He said he could not identify who his customers were, mainly because there were too many people. "I did not notice who they were. My job is to serve them, that's all," he said.

A glass of Coca-Cola is worth Rp 1,500, a considerable expense in this prolonged financial crisis. (amd)
