More banks for STNK applicants

JAKARTA (JP): PT Sakra Bima Mandala Persada has signed a cooperation agreement with seven local private banks to expand business networks in vehicle document processing.

The agreement was signed at the Jakarta Hilton Hotel here yesterday by executives of the private company and Bank BII, Sewu Bank, Orient Bank, Astria Bank, Utama Internasional Bank, Prasidha Bank and Indotrade Bank.

Sakra Bima Mandala Persada's managing director M. Djufri Thalib said the primary aim of the deal is to make it easier for people to process vehicle documents (STNK).

The processing is currently concentrated at two joint police- city administrative offices. One is in East Jakarta for residents of East and North Jakarta and the other is at the City Police Headquarters for residents of Central, South and West Jakarta.

Under the new agreement, applicants can process the documents by paying through banks.

In 1993, the company signed a similar agreement with the city- owned Bank DKI. (bsr)
