Monopoly of haj business 'must end'

JAKARTA: The Association of Haj Travel Agency Owners has demanded
the revision of Law No. 17/1999 on the haj, which gives the
Ministry of Religious Affairs the sole authority to organize the
pilgrimage.

"Because of this policy, collusion regarding the haj quota and
other aspects of the haj business are easily found," association
chairman Mahfud Djaelani said on Thursday.

He said the organization of the pilgrimage should be
transparent to the public. --Antara.
