Money may hamper Thamrin Cup tennis

JAKARTA (JP): Organizers of the 23rd Thamrin Cup junior tennis championship are facing financial problems, tournament director August Ferry Raturandang said yesterday.

So far sponsors include Dunlop, Gatorade, Danamon Tennis Center, Sempati Air, Danau Sunter Hotel, Bola sports tabloid, Mode magazine and Datascript.

The championship will be held from June 16 to June 22.

"Although we have only 21 days left to stage the event, we're optimistic that more sponsors will join us," Ferry said.

The championship has produced several national players like Yayuk Basuki, Wynne Prakusya, Suwandi, Andrian Raturandang, Bonit Wiryawan and Sulistyo Wibowo. (yan)
