Monastery entered in museum records

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Museum of Records will present a certificate to the Nimmala Buddhist Monastery foundation in Tangerang for its 10,753.6 pound (4,888 kilogram) urn for holding joss sticks, which is made of onyx.

Trisno Budijanto from the foundation said on Sunday that the certificate would be presented by museum founder Jaya Suprana at the monastery, also called Boen San Bio, on Monday morning.

Trisno said the monastery would be the first ever recorded on the list at the Semarang-based museum.

He did not say what the exact age of the urn was, but that it was 47 1/4 inches (1.2 meters) high with a diameter of 59 inches (1.5 meters).

The structure was carved by two men in 243 days in Poso, Sulawesi, Trisno said.

On Sunday, Muri presented a certificate to PT Energizer Indonesia, a battery producing firm, for its giant "Energy Boy" mascot at a ceremony at Citraland Mall in West Jakarta. (bsr)
