Monas to have Rp 1b shuttle cars
JAKARTA: The administration plans to buy two shuttle cars to take visitors of the National Monument (Monas) park on a one kilometer ride from the parking lot to the monument.
Each car would accommodate 25 passengers.
Head of Monas management board, Surya Dharma Basri, said on Thursday the city had allocated Rp 1 billion (US$107,641) in its budget for the plan.
"Many visitors have complained the Rp 20,000 fare for andong (horse-drawn buggy) ride is too expensive for them," Surya said. The shuttle cars would be available late this year, he said.
However, he said the management would maintain the 84 andong in Monas. -- JP
