Molotov cocktails lobbed at house

PEKANBARU: A molotov cocktail was thrown at the house of lawyer PH Silitonga at dawn on Monday in Kampar regency, following a similar incident last week that targeted the house of Riau provincial council speaker Djuharman Arifin in Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau province.

Silitonga recalled later that he was awoken by a loud noise. He went out to check what had happened and found two molotov cocktails ablaze in front of his house. He heard the sound of motorcycles speeding away from his neighborhood and discovered soon after that the cocktails had likely been thrown by people on the motorcycles.

The police are examining possible motives for the incident. -- JP
