Mojokerto to produce a film on Majapahit
MOJOKERTO, East Java: The Mojokerto Archaeological Office plans to produce a documentary film on the Majapahit Kingdom to increase interest in the famous kingdom whose territory was almost as large as the territory of Indonesia today.
Winston Mambo, an official at the office, said the film would explore the legacy of the kingdom, including the temples, statues and many other artifacts still standing in East Java.
Work on the film is expected to begin soon and is scheduled to be completed by December. Video compact discs of the film will be shipped to schools throughout the province.
"We decided to produce the film after we discovered that not many people here knew much about the history of the great kingdom," said Mambo. -- JP
