Moderate earthquake shakes Bali

DENPASAR, Bali: An earthquake shook Indonesia's tourist island of Bali on Thursday, sending some people rushing out of buildings according to local media reports, but police said there were no reports of casualties or damage.

A local police officer, who declined to be identified, called the quake a "minor shake" and said there were no reports of casualties or damage.

"An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Bali at 11.09 a.m. The epicenter was 150 kilometers south of Denpasar," said Fauzi, an official at the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency in Jakarta. That would put the epicenter in the sea. Denpasar is near Bali's southern coast. -- Reuters
