Model sues PT Telkomsel
JAKARTA: A model sued telecommunication company PT Telkomsel last week for the alleged illegal use of her picture for the promotion of its product Halo card.
The plaintiff, Filiana Andalusia S., also sued Parama Model Agency and Inter Admark advertising company for the same offense.
She demanded that PT Telkomsel and the other two private companies pay a total of Rp 6.72 billion in compensation.
A. Muhajir Sodruddin, one of Filiana's lawyers, told the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday, that the model had signed a contract with Parama to perform as a Betawi (indigenous Jakartan) dancer for Telkomsel from March 1, 1996 to January, 1997.
However, Telkomsel still uses the picture for its Halo card promotions whereas the contract between the artist and Parama officially terminated in 1997.
Telkomsel's lawyer Sulistya Adi said that Telkomsel had nothing to do with the model as the company signed the deal with Parama Model Agency. -- JP
