Mobile polling booths to operate

SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: The Provincial Elections Committee here has provided dozens of mobile polling booths to serve voters in remote areas scattered through seven districts during Monday's balloting.

Committee chief Hermain Okol told Antara here on Wednesday 34 mobile booths would operate in Bulungan regency, while another 11 would be posted in Balikpapan.

Hermain said the local election committees in the provincial capital and Berau regency had also reported their need of mobile booths, but both had yet to inform him of the estimated numbers.

"The mobile polling booths will ensure the elections take place simultaneously, regardless of difficult terrain in some parts of the province," Hermain said.

In addition to the mobile booths, a total of 3,507 permanent voting booths will be built for next week's elections across the province.
