Mistakes in Crossword

1. I started subscribing to The Jakarta Post last week. Now,
among the first things I do every morning is read Your Letters
and try to fill in the Crossword Puzzler or match answers to the
previous puzzle. Yesterday, I found Your answer to previous
puzzle (of Aug. 1, for puzzle dated July 31) ridiculous. How
could "Michael Jackson's album (1 down)" be "BBC" and yearly,
abbr. (12 across) be "BIN", while genetic material (15 across)"
was listed as "CIA"? I think the answers should be "BAD", "ANN",
and "DNA", respectively. And how could the answer to "Gold, in
Tijuana (14 across) be "BEL" yesterday, while the answer to the
same question today (yesterday puzzle, 12 across) is "ORO"? And
how could "Orient, 45 down" became "EASE" instead of "EAST"? I
was hoping you would realize your mistakes yesterday and correct
them today, but you didn't. By the way, what do "ID" in Letterman
ID (41 down) and "St." in Hawkeye St. (24 down)" stand for? And
could you please retype the questions taken by the fax machine,
so that "i" would not appear as "I"?

2. To the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport management:

I recently saw a friend off at the Soekarno-Hatta
International Airport. While standing in front of the entrance I
noticed the schedule board changing from "boarding" to
"terminated". I'm not an expert in English, but the last word
gave me an uneasy feeling, as if my friend's plane was
"terminated" as in the movie Terminators. Why don't they use
words like departed or took off?

3. To the owner of Sarinah Department Store:

Again, recently I visited the Sarinah Department Store in Jl.
Juanda for a walk after having a meal at Soto Surabaya. What I
saw was a pitiful condition. The store looked old and not
maintained, no prospective buyers were walking in, and the sales
ladies were unenthusiastic. How could they survive? To think that
the store is just across from the State Palace! What a pity! If
I'm not mistaken, the Sarinah in Jl. Braga, Bandung is also in a
pitiful condition. If only they put as much energy into these
Sarinahs as they do into the Sarinah on Jl. Thamrin.
