Misreporting on Unicef
I am writing to respond to a report you published on Nov. 4 on page 4: Unicef to campaign against land mines.
My name was mentioned as a source, which I do not mind as long as the content is in accordance with what I released to the media.
Unfortunately, the last paragraph in your report contains a serious mistake. In the media advisory sent to all media on Nov. 3, it was clearly stated that Indonesia signed the Mine Ban Treaty in 1997, but had not ratified it.
Contradictory to the information Unicef provided in its media advisory, your report says: "Indonesia has ratified the UN convention on land mines in 1997, but has yet to pass it into law."
This erroneous information creates unnecessary confusion.
