Mismanagement must be tackled

Minister of Justice Muladi has made the right statements so far, which makes us have trust in him. His first homework is to draft a bankruptcy law within five weeks, to be approved by the House of Representatives.

In the judicial sector, Muladi might have to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Armed Forces (ABRI) to further his efforts to clean up the courts, including the Supreme Court. ABRI's support is crucial to ensure his actions hit their target.

Mismanagement in handling matters, especially business deals, has also become our concern. The SEA Games stickers scandal showed that we Indonesians do not manage everything properly.

We have also heard of misappropriation of the parking fees to the effect that only 30 percent of the funds flowed into the city coffers.

And the prolonged monetary and economic crisis calls for the government to act to find a speedy solution.
