Minivan driver attacked, robbed

BOGOR (JP): Patrol police found an injured Angkot (public transportation van) driver tied up beside the Jagorawi toll road on Saturday.

A Citeureup police officer said the 20-year-old driver, Afrizal, was the victim of a robbery.

Afrizal, who plied the Bogor-Cibinong route, told police that he left the Bogor market with four passengers -- three sitting in the back seats and the other sitting next to him.

While driving, one of the passengers suddenly pointed a knife at Afrizal and asked him to leave his route and take the toll road, the police officer, who asked for anonymity, said.

After they entered the toll road, the four passengers tied up Afrizal with a rope and beat him, he said.

The men drove away with the van after dumping the driver on the side of the road, he said.

Police found Afrizal at about 3 a.m. and rushed him to the nearby Cibinong community health center for medical treatment. (24/jun)
