Ministry to create 5,492 new jobs

JAKARTA: The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration plans to
spend Rp 28 billion to create jobs for 5,492 people over the next
three months.

Kirnadi, the ministry's director for domestic employment, said
on Friday many of the people would be placed in small- and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

He added that the SMEs should be able to encourage the people
to run their own business afterward.

According to him, his office planned to employ 5,160 people at
labor-intensive firms in 60 regencies and cities.

The office also plans to support around 1,000 laborers to go
on apprenticeship programs in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. --
