Ministry hosts seminar for students

INDONESIA: Indonesia says that the ASEAN's governments and non- governmental organizations need to cooperate with each other in order to achieve the goals of Vision 2020.

Speaking at a seminar in Jakarta, Marty A. Natalegawa, director general of ASEAN cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that such cooperation was important to exchange information about the future of the ASEAN community.

The ASEAN community is based on three pillars: the ASEAN Economic Community, the ASEAN Security Community and ASEAN Sociocultural Community.

"The achievements of the ASEAN community is in line with ASEAN Vision 2020," he told participants, mostly students from Dr. Moestopo University.

Several speakers like Sabam Siagian, a former Indonesian ambassador to Australia, Makmur Keliat from the University of Indonesia, CPF Luhulima from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies also addressed the seminar, which was jointly organized by Dr. Moestopo University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. -- JP
