Millennium -- When?

Mr. P. Ward is right in his letter published on Dec. 17, 1999.

The calender of the Christian era (AD) started with the year One, not with year Zero -- the rest is pure arithmetics.

However, the exact day when the new millennium starts is very much in doubt, as the exact date of the beginning of Year One (the birth of Christ) has never been reliably established and moreover the calender has been messed around with too often.

But why bother about problems when factually there are none (outside the computer Y2K problem [which is real] but has nothing to do with the beginning of the new millennium per se)?

Doomsday "prophets" go home to your beds, you will be off with your calculations no matter how much money you try to rip off.

Happy millennium -- whenever you want to celebrate it.
