Military will not protect officers

SURABAYA, East Java: East Java Military Commander Maj. Gen. Sudi Silalahi reaffirmed on Friday that the military would not protect its members who were involved in the brutal murder of laborer Marsinah in 1993.

"If we discover any military officers that were involved in the murder, we will summon and question them. We will not obstruct the investigation," Sudi said as quoted by Antara.

"I have instructed the military police to look into the case. We are serious about helping the police."

The investigation into the murder of Marsinah in 1993 has been reopened. Police have so far questioned one military officer. (dja)
