Military training for civil servants

DILI, East Timor: The provincial administration has introduced basic military training courses for its employees in a move to strengthen their discipline.

Governor Abilio Jose Osorio Soares warned that those who refused to take part in the course would be expelled, Antara reported.

"The basic military training is not intended to 'militarize' civil servants. It is intended to teach them discipline," he said when launching the course for the first group on Monday.

Discipline should be part of civil servants' attitude and behavior, he said. (rms)
