Military training?

Further to Melody Kemp's letter Violence on the border (Aug. 5) and my own on cross-border raids into East Timor (Aug. 1) by men with "high military skills", UN commanders in the territory are now strongly suggesting that the "militiamen" are in fact army's special force (Kopassus) operatives. This would be consistent with what is known about this group and their extensive training, much of it courtesy of the Pentagon, in covert operations.

Australia, meanwhile, is reported to be extending renewed military training to the Indonesian military. What is this all about, please?
