Military track down protesters
DILI, East Timor: The military vowed yesterday to track down more leaders of the Nov. 25 anti-government demonstration here.
"They make youths demonstrate when they think it is appropriate, such as when foreign journalists visit the town," said Maj. Gen. Abdul Rivai, chief of the Udayana military command who oversees security in Bali, Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.
He said the authorities have arrested five people on charges of masterminding last month's demonstration.
Some 300 students and youths staged the demonstration at the Dili diocese where Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo held a press conference for local and foreign journalists. (33)
