Military launches produce stalls
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Military Command's cooperatives have launched the operation of 15 produce stalls with the aim of providing essential commodities at reasonable prices for the needy, the command's spokesman Lt. Col. DJ. Nachrowi said yesterday.
Nachrowi announced that the 15 stalls, which are located on the capital's outskirts, sell rice, sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour at government-set prices.
Some of the stalls started operating early this month.
"The operation of the produce stalls forms the military command's efforts to help alleviate the burden of the public amid the prolonged economic crisis," said chairman of the cooperatives, Col. Dermawan S.
This week 9,450 kilograms of rice, 250 kilograms of sugar and 700 kilograms of flour were sold, he said. (ivy)
