Military launches post-flood action
JAKARTA: The Jakarta military launched a postflood program at a ceremony in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Thursday in its effort to help flood victims in the capital.
Jakarta Military chief Maj. Gen. Bibit Waluyo said that he would deploy around 1,000 personnel to support the action which will be implemented until April 4.
They would conduct activities like repairing roads, cleaning up the dirts and public latrines, and repairing general facilities such as schools, mosques and markets. They would involve locals in the area.
He said the military has received Rp 800 million from donators to help the flood victims.
The ceremony was also attended by Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso.--JP
