Military Exhibition opens here

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Defense and Security Edi Sudradjat opened yesterday the Armed Forces' (ABRI) week-long military exhibition at the Jakarta Fairground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
The exhibition, which is being held in conjunction with ABRI's golden anniversary, will end on Sept. 28.

The tank is one of the old and modern vehicles belonging to the Army, Navy, Air Force and the National Police, being displayed at the exhibition.
The Army is displaying a wide variety of weapons, including AMX-13 tanks, 150-LUS panzers and ground-to-air Rapier missiles, while the Navy and Air Force are showing-off their military equipment on videos.
The National Police are exhibiting equipment used in their investigations.
Edi said in his opening speech that the exhibition functioned as a "report" to the public about ABRI's strength.
The exhibition is expected to help ABRI teach the public about the military and its weapons, he said.
"The public's knowledge about ABRI is expected to strengthen the connection between ABRI and the people," Edi said. (29)
