Micromodel

MELBOURNE: Watch your feet! The world's smallest car -- a gold-plated model of a 1936 Toyota AA less than 5mm long -- is visiting Australia.

The microcar showcases the microengineering technology soon to be available for engineering and medical applications.

Created by the Denso Corp, the car is a proof of a concept vehicle for the technology applied to microrobots used in pipeline inspections.

The electric-powered microcar has a top speed of 0.36km/h. It is 4.8mm long, weighs 62 grams and has 24 parts. Denso showed the microcar at its 25th anniversary celebrations recently at the opening of a AUD$12 million radiator factory in Melbourne.
