Mexican escapes from quarantine

PEKANBARU, Riau: Authorities yesterday were still tracking down a Mexican who escaped from the immigration quarantine center last week.

Chief of the Riau justice office Zaiman Nurmatias said Georgato Ezeudetto, 28, escaped from the quarantine center just one day after he was locked in.

The Mexican was detained after he lost his passport on his way from Batam Island to Pekanbaru. The police did not believe his story and referred him to immigration authorities.

Zaiman said he has contacted the Mexican embassy in Jakarta regarding Ezeudetto's escape, Antara reported. (pan)
