Message of the Thai Ambassador

The Thai Nation and people celebrate the 72nd Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the Thai National Day, 5 December 1999. Celebrations are being voluntarily organized, throughout the Kingdom, by Thai and ethnic communities, demonstrating their shared loyalty and compassion toward the beloved Monarch who, during his reign of 54 years, has untiringly dedicated himself to the improved welfare and quality of life of Thais of all races, creeds and religious beliefs, through his conduct of researches and experiments, the application of which have contributed immense benefits to the villagers, with successful development of economic and environmental conditions, i.e., agriculture, prevention of soil erosion, irrigation, reforestry, ecology, preservation of wildlife, animal husbandry, as well as integrated agricultural farming based on the concept of economic self-sufficiency at local levels. At the national level, His Majesty has benevolently provided counsel and guidance as well as exemplary undertakings, to the Government and people, resulting in continuous unified political stability and social harmony within the Thai society.

That the objectives and conduct of Thai foreign relations by successive Governments have been inspired by His Majesty's concept of interdependence, mutual benefits and humanitarian concerns among the communities of nations is self evident. Through exchanges of visits and communications, He has consistently initiated and maintained official and personal contacts over several decades, with Heads of State and Government. Hence, cooperative and beneficial relations between Thailand and other countries have been broadened continuously, from strength to strength. The increasing bonds of friendship and constructive cooperation between the Thais and Indonesians are a case in point. Relevant information on certain aspects covering Thai-Indonesia bilateral ties appear on this page. I am confident that, with our shared commonalties of interest and concern, Thais and Indonesians will continue, individually and together with our neighbouring countries, to strive for the revival and sustainable growth of our economies, the strengthening of political and social stability, which will also be in the interests of regional peace, development and cooperation in the coming year 2000.
