Mercedes-Benz opens collection shop

JAKARTA: Instead of going to the nearest Mercedes-Benz Collection Shop at Changi Airport in Singapore, the German carmaker's die-hard fans can now expand their collections at a new shop opened on the ground floor of Pasaraya Grande in South Jakarta.

PT DaimlerChrysler Indonesia in cooperation with PT Buana Kreasi Retailindo recently opened the shop, dubbed as the first Mercedes-Benz shop to be opened in a shopping center in Asia.

Buana director Ruth Siregar said that she was eying two more malls in the capital, including Plaza Indonesia, as further locations for such shops.

The merchandise is based on four themes: Classic, motorsports, innovation and lifestyle. Available at the shop are lifestyle accessories, model cars, Formula One items, children's toys, golf apparel and other exclusive items.

Both companies are targeting young and mature Mercedes-Benz collectors and car owners. The shop also targets a wide range of potential customers as the products vary from the relatively cheap to very expensive, exclusive items. -- JP
