Mercedes-Benz hits the trail

TOKYO: A major sales agency for imported recreational vehicles, Rainbowstar Japan Co, will release a Mercedes-Benz camper in May.

The Marcopolo, based on a 2.3-liter V-class commercial vehicle, can comfortably sleep five adults.

The Tokyo firm hopes to sell 100 the first year.

Westfalia, a German engine tune-up chain, will handle the remodeling. Rainbowstar already sells two sport-utility vehicles, the V Sports and M Sports.

All Mercedes-Benz-based cars handled by the Tokyo firm come with a manufacturer's warranty for one year or 50,000km.
