Merak phone numbers changed

TANGERANG (JP): State-owned telecommunications company PT
Telkom has added a five in front of five-digit numbers beginning
with a seven in Merak, West Java, an official said.

Abdul Haris, the head of the company's Tangerang office, said
the change, which was effective as of April 1, was intended
mainly to improve the company's service.

The telephone service in Merak, which used to be under the
auspices of Telkom's Serang office, has been transferred to the
Tangerang office as part of the firm's restructuring program, he
said. (41)
