Men nabbed with 40 kgs of marijuana

BOGOR: Police from the North Bogor sub-precinct confiscated 40 kilograms of marijuana from two dealers and three of their cohorts in two separate raids on Wednesday.

One of the dealers, Rudy Pakpahan, was arrested at his rented house in Ciomas Permai housing complex in Ciomas, where the police found 27 kilograms of marijuana.

Separately in Cibogel village, also in Ciomas, police caught another dealer, Simon Sahetapy, who had 17 kilograms of marijuana wrapped in a newspaper.

Along with Sahetapy, police also arrested three pushers: Suherwan, Irwan Komara and Penyusunan Hutasuhut. They were arrested at Suherwan's house.

North Bogor Police sub-precinct chief, Adj. Comr. Sukirman said police were forced to shoot both Pakpahan and Sahetapy during the raids.

Meanwhile, Pakpahan admitted that his package of marijuana was acquired from someone known as Adi from Aceh.

"All I do is sell the stuff. I will get Rp 50,000 (US$5) per kilogram whether I manage to sell it or not," he said.

"Previously I sold VCDs in Merdeka market together with Sahetapy," he added.

Both Pakpahan and Sahetapy decided to change their merchandise after their VCDs were plundered during an ethnic clash in the market. -- JP
