Men jailed for murder

TANGERANG (JP): Tangerang District court sentenced on Monday three men respectively to four years, one-and-a-half years, and one year in prison for committing murder.

Presiding judge Achmad Zaini said the defendants, Suganda, alias Geber, 24, Mad Edih alias Jepang, 28, and Iyan Arfiani bin Madhuri, 23, residents of Pasar Kemis village, were found guilty of killing Holili, 34, on April 9 this year.

According to the prosecutor Asnawi, the defendants mobbed and stabbed the victim whom they suspected of wanting to seek revenge for his nephew Fitriyadi, 19.

The prosecutor said that a few days earlier, Mad Edih forced Fitriyadi to confess to having stolen six bottles of Kratingdaeng energy drink from the Suka Murah shop in Pasar Kemis village.

"Since the victim's nephew said he did not know who had stolen the energy drink, Mad Adih was angry and punched Fitriyadi in the face. Fitriyadi then told his uncle, Holili, about the punch," said the prosecutor.

Holili, along with his nephew, intended to discuss the punch with Mad Edih, but the latter presumed Holili wanted revenge and called Suganda and Iyan to mob the victim.

Mad Edih and Iyan, who were sentenced to one year and one-and- a-half years in jail respectively, beat the victim only with their bare hands, while Suganda, who got four years, stabbed the victim in his chest.

All the defendants said they accepted the court's verdict.(41)
