Men arrested for killing own brother

JAKARTA (JP): Three men were arrested for killing their own
brother and burying him in their yard, the chief of Bogor police
precinct said yesterday.

Lt. Col. Yudi Susharyanto said the three men had admitted to
killing Ismail, 35, a hot-tempered man who liked to beat their
mother.

"The suspects, Yusuf, 40, Mulyadi, 28, and Suwandi, 21, killed
Ismail on Feb. 23 because they could not stand to watch him beat
their mother every time he got angry," Yudi said.

Ismail's three brothers caught him beating their mother on
Feb. 23. They then attacked and strangled him, Yudi said.
Ismail's body was buried in the garden of the family's home in
Limo village, Bogor, West Java.

Neighbors became suspicious after receiving strange replies to
their queries about Ismail's whereabouts and reported his
disappearance to the police on March 1. According to Yudi, the
brothers have been questioned and confessed to the crime Monday.

The police were scheduled to exhume the body for medical
examination yesterday. (04)
